GET YOUR LIFE TOGETHER!!!: Focusing on priorities!

Priorities, Priorities, Priorities!!!! Something that many people have struggled with time and time again, including myself. However, this week I have managed to start kicking my bad prioritizing habits to the curb with the use of Dr. Blumin's RANKING PRIORITIES LIST. This list was very easy to make and very helpful when you finally start using it. I used it for two of my classes my IST 195 course and my CLS 105 course. The reason I chose this strategy is because I never have my priorities straight and I have a tendency of trying to multitask everything in order to get them done at the same time. I also chose this strategy because of the fact that I am a visual learner and I like to see things that I have to get done in an ordered
To successful create a priorities list, YOU NEED TO HAVE THINGS THAT HAVE TO BE DONE, you take a list of those things a jot them down.
Those are a list of things I have to get done this week and my tasks are all over the place. This is basically the brainstorming portion of this task. So it did not matter where ever I put my goals as long as I know what has to get done. After I got the goals that I needed to complete I needed to rank them so I can see which tasks are more important than the others.
Ranks
This is the method that I used in order to rank the goals that I have to accomplish. A was the most essential task, B was important, and C is optional. Once I managed to rank my priorities I quickly realized that some goals are just as important as the others so I added numbers so I could break them down into groups such as (A1), (B1), and (C1).

FINAL PRODUCT!
of my list helped me to organize the array of tasks I had to do and helped me to simplify and prioritize the goals that I have to get done. This is the list I am using for this upcoming week, this week, I used a different chart for a class I definitely need help prioritizing in CLS 105.
CLS 105 is a class that I will ALWAYS have an assignment for every week. However, the prioritizing list is here to save the day. I'm always on the move unfortunately and I usually never have time to actually sit down and brainstorm during the week because I am either doing food services or homework. So, while I was on the go I decided to make handy a certain trinket that everyone used nowadays, MY IPOD! I used the notepad feature so I could prioritize all my goals that I had to get done for this week. This was actually the first time I used the technique because after hearing about the task for this weeks tech assignment I brainstormed all of my tasks right after class on my way to work.
In order to succeed in my classes hard work is necessary, however you can not work hard without knowing when and what you have to work at. I took action and decided that this is a strategy that is right for me along with D's do and due's. Like I said before, due to the fact that I am a visual learner this is a strategy that is right for me because I can prioritize all of my goals the right way and have order.

  1. I used the Ranking Priorities Strategies too, but I never thought to make a copy of it on my mobile device. I think that was a great addition to this strategy because it allows you to take your priorities with you throughout the day. It allows for more awareness which is very important when understanding what you need to do. Next time I'll be sure to implement that to my own list.

  3. I liked the way you used your iPod for the Ranking Priorities strategy! I also used this strategy and found it to be very useful when trying to get by this past week. Using your iPod to rank your priorities is a smart idea because your tasks are easily accessible to you and they can be a constant reminder of what you need to get done. I am always on my phone so I will definitely try this out

  4. First of all, I love how you made this visually appealing. It was fun to read! I also thought your adaptation to this plan was great as well. As students we are constantly on our phones and its part of our generation. It was also good how you showed how you went through your process of ranking priorities. I'm glad this worked for you and I will definitely give it a try!
