Time Wasters

Time Wasting is something that I am very good at doing. I always find myself procrastination on a majority of homework assignments and as the due dates for my assignments approach, I find myself doing homework last minute. It was time for me to assess my procrastinating tendencies. I used two strategies for my Ist 195 class, Time Wasters and admitting the consequences. The purpose of me using these two strategies is because I know I have a problem procrastinating, I just want to be able to assess this behavior and change my attitude toward working on assignments early. By listing my tasks and the things I do to procrastinate it is more beneficial to me because I am a visual learner who likes to see things listed.

I took the action of making a chart of all the things I do which causes me to procrastinate doing work for IST. I wind up playing video games and taking naps most of the time. Hanging out with my girlfriend is another...(Hench the at times...just in case she sees this and decides to kill me). All of these habits stop me from completing labs, Ist blogs, and assessment.
I have come to the conclusion that since most of the work in this class is boring I try to run to my video games to detatch myself.

Another strategy I used was admitting the consequences. The task that I used was my IST Blog. The consequences of me procrastinating for the blog are I wind up doing it an hour before it is due, it turns out sloppy, and I often get a ton of grammatical errors. I also rated these consequences based on how severe they are to my assignments.
Oversleeping and Video games were negative behaviors that caused my to miss class. For that reason I rated them negative because I would wind up not going to class period if I overslept or got too attached to video games. I've evaluated the best way to eliminate this video game obstacle was to mail my xbox back home to focus more. In terms of oversleeping its time to get me a louder alarm clock.

  1. You and Ian both took Time Wasters and applied them to specific assignments but for me, I grouped them by tasks such as reading, papers, ect. It is good that you are able to identify what specifically and when is holding you back. Keep trying to get ahead of the game!
